This was an enjoyable read last night: a sci-fi mystery novella set in an unequal society with themes of unemployment, homelessness, privilege and friendship. Lots of opportunities for discussion...

What a stunning read. Masterful, atmospheric story-telling with the most beautifully-written, poignant ending... KidsBloomsbury

Disappointed to have missed this month’s chat - bedtime tantrums to blame (my son, not me!). About to catch up with tea and toast...

I feel your pain. A few weeks ago a lady in front of me went the wrong way round a roundabout and then met me head-to-head at the same exit a couple of mins later. She left me in no doubt that she believed she had right of way! 🙄

As a veteran I loved this story for a number of reasons, but mostly because I believe it’s important for kids to be able to see themselves in stories, and that’s exactly what children who have lost a military parent will now be able to do. Bravo

I’m afraid I have form (as knows!) but on the positive side, at least it means that I don’t have to fight my daughter for first dibs of the best books!

While I haven’t got any advice on reading material, I second the comment about a play therapist/assistant if there is one available. The ones that have helped our son with blood tests and invasive treatments have been worth their weight in gold...
