This talk on 5G was interesting — including the administration's Robert B. Blair's anecdote about a Chinese diplomat who pointed out 2.5 million Americans run Huawei code on their pacemakers and "it'd be horrible if they couldn't get an update."

That's quite the threat 👆🏼 from a Chinese diplomat. Blair earlier admitted the US had viewed 5G as a free market issue for too long, and that it took some time to understand this was not a free market issue, but a national security problem.

The talk also included Diane Rinaldo and who made the point that we shouldn't view all Chinese technology development as a risk. He also said we might start seeing more BRI/Digital Silk Road efforts from China in response to distrust of Huawei.

but Melissa, its a totally 100% employee owned private company with no ties to the PLA/CCP/etc. The diplomat must be trying to express heartfelt concern, and shouldn't be misconstrued as aggressive jingoistic browbeating or something.

If they plan to hold out elderly population hostage, sounds like they are getting pretty desperate.

Que obligatory Sun Tzu quote about crisis and opportunity. We get it. You want to take advantage of our country using a 3 point, five year plan. The fact that their behavior is normalized to the point they jest about it in an open forum is evidence enough of their intent.

I guess they are suggesting if we don't change our position that 2.5 Million pacemakers may suddenly stop working ??
