Well it is a constant 21°c and 55% humidity, to preserve the collection. (Also helps keep the clientele comfortable year round, no matter the weather outside.)

Well, actually no. Football was played on from 1859, originally on rectangular field, only moved boundaries out to full cricket oval from 1877. While cricket pitches, which previously ran east-west from 1854, were realigned to run north-south only in 1881.
