I watched the full series of la casa de papel (money heist) in Spanish with English subtitles. It was SO good. Feel like Netflix is onto something wrt to international series

When a new bank like targets the underserved and underbanked, the horror stories are that much worse when the bank stops working. I'm seeing people unable to get to work bc they can't pay for gas, and getting the police called on them bc they can't pay at a restaurant.

1) There have been some incredible success stories for VC-backed deeptech companies. • Exited companies like Tesla, Oculus, Auris, Cruise, CTRL Labs, Nest, Ring, etc. • And still private companies like SpaceX, Carbon, DesktopMetal, Samsara, DJI, etc.

Peak San Francisco interaction: on my way back from the gym, I stop by a juice shop to get a smoothie. Apple Pay / Card terminal isn’t working. Product manager at Apple Card right behind me in line pays for my food and I Venmo him the money.

Real interaction: Me: “Hey, we’ve met briefly, but I work with X on your team.” VC @ a firm invested in Scale: “Cool, what do you do?” Me: “We do data labeling for AI” VC: “Oh I’m surprised we invested. We have a company Scale that’s killing it.” Me: 🤨

6) D1/D7/D30 that exceeds 60/30/15 (daily frequency) 7) revenue or activity expansion on a *per user* basis over time -- indicates deeper engagement / habit formation 8) >60% organic acquisition -- CAC doesn't even matter! Having even one is impressive -- it'd make me sit up!

Observation: Companies that innovate and ship product 2 early in their life keep innovating. Companies that take a long time to add a second product, never add one (except for M&A).

Facts II: 🏈Seahawks improved to 5-1, tying their best six-game start in franchise history (2013, 2003). 🏈 Cowboys’ loss to the 0-4 Jets was the first time Dallas lost to an opponent that entered a game 0-4 or worse since 1999.

yea I'm literally talking about rethinking the functionality of certain apps. strip it down to a feature. Makes the most sense in payments use case..and email...but I hope someone can do it for messaging as well. it's either that or we just follow wechat

I don't think we can redo things the way they are now. UX is set, I agree...but if you could start from scratch, knowing the use cases to build for, would you change the architecture? I can't imagine having 10 email apps today
