For decades, the foreign policy elite held to theory that as China grew wealthier, it would inevitably liberalize, becoming a responsible stakeholder in the “American-led liberal rules-based international order.” This theory has proven incorrect.

“Brennan’s response & diplomatic outcry in some quarters are viewed in Israel & in large parts of Sunni Arab world as willful myopia that offers no safety or answers for those in the region who must contend with the hard reality of an expansionist Iran.”

Iran says it'll enrich uranium to 20% to pressure Biden to hand over billions of dollars for IRGC terrorism. The wrong response: I'm very scared. I'll give you billions of dollars to stop. The right response: I won't pay your terror extortion racket.

“JCPOA was never designed to prevent Iran from achieving nuke-nation status. It was only aimed at dragging that process out while reshuffling region’s geopolitical deck in Iran’s favor & ultimately providing patina of legitimacy to its nuke ambitions.”

Both cases involved a willfully ignorant projection of liberal democratic values on an Arab public he knows nothing about. Both were expressed in the most appalling condescension to anyone who disagrees. And both were shameless weather vaning. Not so strange after all.

Reminder: the US should oppose any IMF funds for Iran. Iran's Central Bank is designated for terrorism. FinCEN says Iran's financial sector is a primary jurisdiction for money laundering. FATF says the same. Iran's currency policy also violates IMF rules.

Biden just smashed Blinken’s promise of no terror or missile sanctions relief for Iran to pieces. He is offering oil sanctions relief for the IRGC. Also seems unaware the deal’s 1st sunset already kicked in & doesn’t say if he will enforce arms embargo.

“Dubowitz & admin officials familiar with Iranian sanctions said multinational corporations may be so risk averse to doing business with Iran now, following thousands of financial designations, that even if Biden lifts sanctions they’ll not engage in normal trade relations.”
