2017: After winning the 2A state championship, Beckman Catholic players point to their coach — Tom Jenk Jr. — who watched the game from a press box suite. Jenk passed away three months later after coaching the Blazers for 42 seasons.

Shout out to my 10 APUSH students who joined me this morning for my first office hour. Great to see students taking ownership in their education. I’m on until 12

Sitting on the patio tonight playing Jenga listening to some Foreigner and the wife says “Honey can we cut the 80s.” I really don’t know where to go from here.

Atmosphere, the lifting is important, but the energy and family built in there is critical.

Trips to the field. X fade to my best playmaker on the single side. Go let that boy eat.

Gilbert 2018. We were down 16-0 at half and only had one first down. Our coaches and players made great adjustments, every play was a “check” at the line for the rest of the game. Our guys battled back and we won 31-22. Players showed great fight and belief in themselves.

The offensive line. For many of them it is the first time in their life they have found something they are good at when it comes to sport. There is no selfishness and for the most part no ego. And it is the only position in sports where your sole task is protecting another human.

Legacy by James Kerr. I’m doing a book study with my football leadership group. It has so many things we can apply to our team.

Listen more than you speak, be willing to do any job that needs to be done. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY get your teaching license. As a HC I want guys in the building to hold our guys accountable and build relationships with other teachers.

I know these are tough times but think about this: -Families are eating around the table -Parents are taking a role in teaching their kids. -People are reading books. -People are saving rather than wasting. -We are solving problems together as a community.

A4: We tried best 11 this year and our kids were tired in the 4th. We were in great shape, other teams just wore us out with depth. This year having one way players will be a priority. Best guys on Defense and then make your offense.

Great point. Over coaching during team time is a big pet peeve of mine.

A2: We have to use the little breaks we get on special teams or timeouts to make adjustments. The iPads are helpful for showing kids things quick. Just make sure you don’t take em on the field or the refs will yell at you.

A1: We go WR with the QB most of the time and the RB and OL by themselves. OL is the most important group to have its on dedicated coach. So many variables.
