McCabe on : “The deputy attorney general offered to wear a wire into the White House. He said, 'I never get searched when I go into the White House. I could easily wear a recording device. They wouldn’t know it was there.' He was not joking.”

The tireless and well-sourced ⁦⁩ and I traced how Trump came to declare a national emergency to fund his border wall. Come for the lawyers telling POTUS he’d have a tough time in court, stay for the dramatic confrontation with Paul Ryan.

We still haven't actually heard McCabe's own words on that, though we expect to Sunday on 60 Minutes. Here is how Scott Pelley, talking to Norah O'Donnell yesterday morning on CBS, described what McCabe told him on the 25th Amendment.

McCabe's spokeswoman says "at no time did Mr. McCabe participate in any extended discussions about the use of the 25th Amendment, nor is he aware of any such discussions." But she says he "participated in a discussion that included a comment" by Rosenstein about 25th Amendment

And when I say disturbing, I mean it. Per , McCabe alleges in his book Sessions “believed that Islam — inherently — advocated extremism.” McCabe also claims Sessions said the FBI was better off when “you all only hired Irishmen.”

Color me even more skeptical of the language that Rod Rosenstein “directed that Mr. McCabe be removed from any participation in that investigation,” unless it was way after Mueller’s appointment. The month after Mueller was appointed, McCabe signed the Carter Page FISA.

Don’t overlook in this story (and from CNN yesterday), Barr is zeroing in on a new DAG. Rosenstein has made it clear for a while he’s ready to leave, though willing to stay for a smooth transition. Will today’s drama between him and McCabe hasten his exit?
