That thing I hear all writers encounter at some point happened to me: idea appropriation. Honestly, it's fine. Not something that was going to survive new WIP edit. But still frustrating. Now I know to keep all project details in my head lest they wander into another's work.

Depends. There’s precedent for athletes post service academy ie David Robinson, and other less well known folks. There’s also the World Class Athlete Program inside Olympic cycles for the non-professionals.
