This article on WhatsApp suggests that WhatsApp might be weakening its encryption, but doesn’t give any details. That’s pretty worrying.

To clarify, there’s no concrete information in this article. But keep in mind that most of the original WhatsApp employees and founders are rich, so will probably be leaving that product to Facebook’s tender mercies.

Since it says the goal is to make it easier for business to use its tools, my guess is that they're adding escrow encryption; encrypting everything with an additional enterprise key so that the business can decrypt all of its employees' messages.
