Research shows that we are consistently more likely to believe the findings of a study if they are presented alongside a coloured image of a human brain, even if those findings are implausible.

If a fish being caught in "British waters" makes it a "British fish" can we accept that refugees getting fished out of "British waters" are British too? Think that gives them a passport and automatic right to remain. I think I like this idea

If you aim to be something you are not you will always fail. Aim to be you. Aim to look and act and think like you. Embrace that you-ness. Endorse it. Love it. And don’t give a fuck when people mock it or ridicule it. Much of gossip is envy in disguise.

Downton Abbey making twice as much per theater as Rambo or Ad Astra means one thing and one thing only: Dame Maggie Smith is a bigger box office star than Sylvester Stallone and Brad Pitt

5 STARS "There has not been a more credible, more harrowing, account of internal anguish for quite some time. It will haunt you for some considerable time. This is truly landmark theatre. But here is the miracle – you emerge hopeful, and enlightened"

British fish are of course the ones that speak English and will, from 31st October, carry a blue passport.

I love Brad Pitt. Especially in Moneyball and Once Upon a Time in America.

Fight Club is the world’s most overrated movie. That is why you’re not allowed to talk about it.

I am middle class and I don't care so if the only argument is 'you're middle class' I will just answer with a yes I do have a soft spot for sun-dried tomatoes and Nigel Slater cookbooks.

I came late to and Reasons To Stay Alive. Being fascinated by anxiety caused by us and triggered in us, this beautiful sentence stayed with me. "Anxiety takes away all the commas and full stops we need to make sense of ourselves."

Still amazed that a presenter of a Radio 4 program let the depiction of a depressed character acting as depressed be called ‘manipulative’ when he was merely being ill go by unchallenged. Shows that mental health stigma is the last stigma to be seen.

It would have taken one hell of an EU resolution to do that kinda damage.

Wherever you stand on Brexit having a referendum that has caused half of the country to resent the other half for ever more, and vice versa, made Britain a worse place to be.

But people said the same about manumission and the emancipation of slaves in the early nineteenth century. Not saying they are equivalent, just that the argument is.
