Due to the regime's tight security and repressive measures rallies were scarce. The number of participants was low.

While the group of students who managed to hold a rally on despite the tight security atmosphere certainly present a cross section of the student body, they are by no means representative of all students or the Iranian society as a whole.

The key to assessing an issue in a closed society is to not take a minor viewpoint and attribute it to the overall society or the entirety of Iran's student movement. Patterns are important.

Throughout the years, we have seen a pattern from Iran's student movement directly confronting the regime's repression and tyranny. To the point that students were punished with expulsion, torture, death and long years in prison.

Contrary to this, some videos from depict students equating the situations in France and Lebanon to Iran and attacking activists. Iran's student movement has always carried a unifying message and would never smear activists in slogans.

Iran's student movement would never attack activists when unity against oppression and unity for human rights is called for.
