Congratulations to Ocyris, Jadara & Samuel -- 3 of the winners of Boston's first ever student art contest. I am so proud of you all & your drive to make our city a better place for all by carrying on the work that Boston’s Black Seniors started.

Today, we express our gratitude to a very special group of Bostonians--- Boston’s Black Seniors, who have broken down barriers, stood up for what’s right, and paved the way for younger generations to follow.

We need to take responsibility for the gun violence that is happening in our country. Every life we lose to gun violence is one too many. It's time for the federal government to step up, and do their job.

I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of my friend and former colleague, Rep. Peter Kocot. He was a thoughtful and trusted member of the MA House of Representatives and will be greatly missed. My thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.

In Boston, we're using all the tools we have to make sure those w/ substance use disorders have a continuum of care that allows for long-term, lasting recovery. Here's our plan to rebuild the Long Island bridge to help our fight against the opioid crisis.

I agree with using methadone to wean people off drugs, but we need to focus on long term solutions. We're going to make pharmaceutical companies rich by allowing them to treat people who became addicted through those same drug companies -- and that's not a solution.
