Minister for Emergency Services joined water safety partners this morning to launch the NSW Government’s water safety advertising campaign to reduce drowning deaths over the 2018-2019 summer. The event included a mock rescue in the surf.

An elderly couple was thrown into the water when their boat overturned on the Tweed River this morning. A volunteer crew from helped get them and their boat safely back to the Dry Dock Road boat ramp.

A sad sight for any boater. Marine Rescue Shoalhaven volunteers and other agencies attended a trawler that sank alongside the Greenwell Point Main Wharf today. The vessel sank in 20 minutes at lunch time.

It was with a very heavy but proud heart that we today honoured 87 Emergency Service volunteers, whose names are etched on a beautiful memorial at Mrs Macquarie’s Point in Sydney, as part of an annual service to commemorate the sacrifices they made while protecting the community.

Emergency services volunteers who lost their lives protecting the community have been commemorated today at a special memorial. Minister for Emergency Services said the memorial, at Mrs Macquarie’s Point in Sydney, has honoured volunteers since 2001.
