Mayday Update. 4 people have been rescued off a remote beach south of Bermagui after their trawler hit rocks, taking on water. Crew issued MayDay, activated EPIRB; and made it to beach in liferaft. & flying 2 persons each to Bermagui.

Overdue Central Coast boater has been located by a rescue helicopter. He had run aground just north of the Rip Bridge south east of St Huberts Island. He is cold but otherwise ok. The three vessels involved in the search have been stood down.

TRAWLER EMERGENCY At 0100am a volunteer crew from Marine Rescue Point Danger responded to a call to medevac a crewman with breathing problems from a 75 foot trawler off the Tweed River bar. He was given oxygen and kept warm, then brought to shore to a waiting ambulance.

How NOT to treat a volunteer emergency service. Marine Rescue Shellharbour crews arrived for duty Saturday to find a shark’s head impaled on the base fence. It’s a low blow for our committed volunteers who give up their time to save lives on the water.
