The Garland County Election Commission left Susan Inman, the Democratic candidate for secretary of state, off the election ballot. Early voting began without her as an option. Sites had to be shut down. Inman says the glitch left her in "sheer disbelief."

In July 2017, more than 500,000 people were removed from Georgia's voter rolls, including 100,000 who were removed after not voting in previous elections. The purge was overseen by Republican Secretary of State Brian Kemp — who's now running for governor.
