My only objection is that I think "1-2-3" voting is a better name for it. Easier to remember.

“There was no meaningful evidence of Cruz-related fraud; no new election was called; and Cruz’s victory was never nullified. The point, however, is that as far as Trump was concerned, the Iowa Republicans’ caucus process in 2016 was a mess, too.”

“Four years ago yesterday, one GOP presidential hopeful – I believe his name was Donald J. Trump – tweeted, ‘Based on the fraud committed by Senator Ted Cruz during the Iowa Caucus, either a new election should take place or Cruz results nullified’.”...

"Every year since taking office, Trump has asked for deep cuts into research on emerging diseases – including the CDC’s small center on emerging & 'zoonotic' infectious diseases that jump the species barrier from animals to humans. The new coronavirus is just the latest example"

so yes, it’s worth being agog about what just happened in the iowa dem caucuses last night, but at least thus far, this rises nowhere near the historical apogee for clstrfckdnss in iowa.

and then a little while later, the ron paul victory got its own exciting surprise ending: multiple criminal indictments!

three-part mini thread: it’s an iowa thing, not just an iowa dems thing. the 2012 gop iowa caucuses were “won” by romney. and then a few days later they were “won” by santorum. and then a few months later they were “won” by ron paul....

Reminder of this from SSCI's election security report on 2016 - the Russians had a disinfo campaign ready to go alleging a rigged election. This is why perceived lack of integrity is a huge vulnerability - and anyone feeding into that narrative is undermining democracy.

Beyond the delay, the most alarming story are coordinated (& false) claims by Trump surrogates the vote is rigged. Beware of more in 2020 w/damaging consequences. Don Jr: “The fix is in..AGAIN” Eric Trump: “..they are rigging this thing." Parscale: "Quality control=rigged?"

From our NYT story tonight: no indication the app to tally votes in Iowa was hacked/breached. What happened appears to be much more mundane and commonplace: people didn’t understand how to use the technology, and bugs in internet speed/connectivity led to a lot of malfunctions.

The Tbilisi caucus was conducted successfully, over a traditional Iowan meal of pizza and ranch dressing – accompanied by Georgian wine. The results will be reported along with the rest of the results after the caucuses in Iowa take place.

Glad to see quickly respond to false claims. Judicial Watch and other conservative groups have made similar claims in other states, and many Republican secretaries stay silent so as not to anger their party.

The only motivation Judicial Watch has to put out bad information on the day of the Iowa Caucus is to cause confusion and chaos.

A note from the Republican Iowa Secretary of State about the repeated misinformation put out by Judicial Watch, a conservative organization that routinely spreads absolute garbage about voter rolls.

Today caucus-goers in Iowa woke up to more than a dozen kids in cages all over the city of Des Moines. We came to remind people that this remains a reality & that the issue cannot be pushed under the rug. 🚨 this is a humanitarian crisis.🚨
