Everyone hears “panda bear” when a vendor occasionally shouts “can of beer,” right?

What if city hall took its space design cues from, for one example, public libraries? Great story by

Flying somewhere fun this summer? Opt out of a facial recognition scan. Safe travels, abroad and through the bleak future of privacy 😬

It seems so so so hard to know what’ll be most useful. Read the syllabus for each one (email me if you can’t find them, I know I’ve seen both). Take the first class for both, and see how it feels! Experience might not matter if the professor is a good fit for you!

I’m psyched for data librarianship, and everyone who took it last year loved it and said they learned a lot from it. The syllabus is out there if you want a preview! And it’d be nice to take a class with you!! Good luck deciding!

This week in pizza news: “In this paper, we aim to teach a machine how to make a pizza by building a generative model that mirrors this step-by-step procedure.”

Now it feels like I’m really in DC, seeing bunch of photographers follow someone from US District Court to a cab.

This all just strengthens my belief that info policy should be a required course in graduate library science programs. Everyone probably thinks about it in some way, and it will come up all the time, but it helps so much to give it structure!

But you can do it through small acts. Already teaching computer basics? Build some info policy into that. Meet people where they are, collaborate with your community, “infuse info policy into other subjects.”

Info policy advocacy can run counter to library funders’ beliefs, risking $$. Education around info policy can be messy and not cohesive. All this makes it harder for librarians to do this.
