@OvercastFM This isn‘t a new bug I think, but I‘m seeing a lot more problems when using Airplay to play on a Sonos One. Playback pauses randomly, without interaction on my end. Any idea what might cause this?

This applies generally, but particularly well in technology. When you base your stack or methodology or paradigms on what you’ve seen the big tech companies do, you’ll probably end up in the wrong place. twitter.com/dhh/status/117…

The question is why not? What do I gain by making them read only? If I journal, why not enter things to yesterday or last year on my birthday? What‘s to be gained - don‘t see any upside at all.

Nicholas Winton helped 669 Jewish children escape the Nazis. His efforts went unrecognized for 50 years; then in 1988, while sitting as a member of a TV audience, he suddenly found himself surrounded by the kids he’d rescued, now adults.

End to End Encryption for blocks, with specific passphrases to view
For encrypted blocks, your text and passphrase are never sent to our servers without first passing encryption (see right img)
Forget the passphrase, you lose the content of the blocks though pic.twitter.com/o3kdN2xBFd

IR, polisci, & causal inference twitter! Have you come across any recentish work that uses DAGs on IR-related observational panel data (i.e. country-year) to argue causality? Starting a project and want to maybe avoid the standard "lag all the DVs." What's best practice nowadays?

How common are cyberattacks in retaliation to aggressive foreign policy events? To keep it short, not as common as one might expect. If you want to know more, check out my blog post for PV@Glance or my working paper on this question: osf.io/preprints/soca…. twitter.com/PVGlance/statu…

INAL (obviously), but publishing a URL and byterange + additional information should fall under fair use, esp. under US law and considering that CC exists in the first place.
I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Wouldn't it be useful to have an annotated corpus of news reports for automatic protest event coding, free to use for the entire community? That's what I'm trying to create together with @vjdorazio and Vincent Ng at UT Dallas. But... 1/2

I know the BBC is in there, not sure about other news sources. Most likely no continuous coverage of any kind, but possibly still useful?

Would publishing annotations with the byteranges for CC locations work? Find news reports in CC, get the respective byterange and content, code the content, publish annotations just with the path to the WARC file and range...
