Awakening is not solely an individual journey; we all affect each other, making it a social and community endeavor as well. Hope you can join us for a workshop or retreat sometime!

Ego managers of the ordinary mind establish deep habits that prioritize safety & survival. This perceived need for safety continues to reconstitute ego defense that obscure awake awareness. With awakening, the innocent habits of our old conditioning gradually subside.

One reason we don’t usually tap into awake awareness is that we are generally looking out from it. Awake awareness is the source of knowing, the nature of mind. It is prior to thought, what thought is made of, and beyond thought as non-conceptual wisdom.

Instead of looking through a narrow tunnel of vision or in a pinpointed way, practice seeing the entire visual field seamlessly all at once. Throughout your day, try softening your gaze so that your eyesight is not dominant and all your senses are experienced equally.

You will discover that essential wellbeing is not found by calming our minds or by changing our thoughts or attitudes, but actually by shifting out of our chattering minds and into a freedom that is already available.

This is a very helpful new episode of interviewing . Speaks directly to questions in our group about integrating awakening insights, and making them part of every day life. The first episode is great as well!

Here is the first episode, for easy reference. This episode is fantastic as well, since explains that beyond the perspective of both everyday mind and awakeness together, there is living from an open heart, which integrates and connects:

We all long for freedom, but real freedom is not a quality you gain; it is who you already are. Freedom arises from a deep sense of well-being that does not depend on any life circumstances.

When we discover the important ability to step back into awake awareness, we are no longer identified with our worried thoughts and fearful emotions. That which is aware of fear is not fearful.

When you intentionally separate awareness from thinking, you open up into an already spacious and interconnected awakened space that is free of deep suffering.

The goal of meditation is not to stop thoughts or just be very relaxed. This can be an important first step to soothe the animal of our mind and body, but awakening is alert, interconnected, creative, and compassionate. ~The Way of Effortless Mindfulness
