That’s a good idea. I do interactive sessions, so discussions are important. I don’t usually experience obnoxious “questions “, though occasionally there is “helpful feedback “. 🙂

I can easily spot a man who has decided to not engage in learning, and possibly keep the others in his group from engaging. But I hadn’t thought before that it could be a sexist thing, and now that you mention it - could be! Happens to me less frequently lately.

The only "10x engineers" I know are those that are able to empower a team of ten people thanks to great documentation, good interpersonal communication, and the realisation that the best code is the standard, non-shiny code that everyone can understand and work on.

I'm pinching myself that is being run without me. I still dip in to help out on bits, but really everything that happens now has nothing to do with me. I'm very thankful for and and the whole team behind MoT. 🙏

In my video courses, sometimes the thing I'm showing doesn't work. I used to edit these out. Now I leave them in, read the error msg aloud, explain what it means and demo how to fix it. I imagine this is of some value...if nothing more than to show even "experts" hit issues.

When choosing a conference to participate in, consider one that is committed to: 1. providing a diverse lineup of speakers, 2. compensating and/or reimbursing speakers, and 3. A Code of Conduct that emphasizes inclusion and anti-harassment. Happy Conferencing!
