At some point last year someone on the A's (I forget who, maybe Chapman or Piscotty?) got asked about their low batting average. The response was 'No, my exit velocity has been great so I'm not worried'. It's a whole new world

It's not the be all end all but generally speaking players who consistently hit for a high average are really, really good; it's not all luck. If you consistently hit the ball hard and make lots of contact you're going to get hits and hits of all kinds.
