Hard to explain in 280 characters 🤔 I'll try it in figures: *proton is a dipole *dipole is in the center *it precesses in the external field *at 7T, speed of light is relevant *outer parts of brain come are seen later *with delayed phase

The brain as seen from a precessing proton. →At 7T, protons rotate so incredibly fast! It takes longer for radio waves to travel through the brain (speed of light) than one full proton rotation. →Swirly pattern comes from the right-hand-rule of the Larmor equation.
