Make sure you make a local copy of your entire Google Drive (especially if this is your dissertation work) - I think Berkeley disabled this feature when I was finishing, so I had to do this manually on a periodic basis.

Right. I’m guessing Sundar didn’t lose electricity last fall like many of his fellow Californians did. Technological determinism seems a lot less deterministic when you can’t keep the power on. Infrastructure is far more fragile than many are willing to accept.

Completely unscientific sample: when I talk to people about my research, I've had multiple people tell me that they've gotten a DTC kit, had second thoughts, and never sent it in. The time lag between the impulse buy and receipt is an unintentional cooling off period.
