My home parish is in the news for an unfortunate and petty act of rebellion against the mask mandate aiming to limit coronavirus spread. The mandate apparently is so horrendous it justifies rebellion against the bishop and the government.
Both the Archdiocese of Denver and the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter are reviewing the situation of a priest who told Catholics to disobey the orders of Church and civic officials regarding...

The parish pastors seemed to counsel obedience in the first weeks of the epidemic, but I could not understand why they suddenly chafed against requirements to wear masks. There were enough yellow flags and anti-mask signaling that I stayed away from the TLM.

My fear is that this traditional Latin Mass parish let erratic personalities take over: there are a few vocal anti-vaxx activists, more people than usual obsessed over the "plandemic" video, and the pastor seemed convinced by COVID contrarians like the Stanford set.

Father Nolan himself seemed impressive and active in engaging the men of the parish. I did not think he would self-destruct like this, in a video RT'd by a member of Trump's Catholic committee.

Father Nolan's apparent belief that we are in "an attempted communist takeover of the United States" is deeply retro and misguided. Our leftist revolutionaries are capitalist-sponsored. A successful analysis of the the 21st century must recognize this.

Please keep my parish, Our Lady of Mt Carmel-Littleton, in your prayers, and please pray for the Latin Mass community's reform and purification.

The Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter, which celebrates the traditional Latin Mass, does not support "actions to disobey their bishops or governmental authorities" and its superiors "have instructed their priests to adhere to public health guidelines."

Not helpful. Is TM going to incite revolt against FSSP leadership too?

Tell me you didn’t start this story bc you don’t like anyone anyone calling out this insanity. That series you typed up is incredible disgusting. Going after your Fr is not something a good catholic does & you know darn well this has nothing to do with canonical obedience.

The decision to run with this wasn’t mine, but I have wondered whether I was too silent about the problems at OLMC. I was hoping positive change would come through other means, from the priests themselves.
