Thanks so much Katelin! Jack, you're right on the reasons why people don't do reference checks enough. References are the most underleveraged dataset in recruiting today, and this is bad for both companies AND candidates, especially underrepresented ones.

Thanks Mike! The way references are done today needs to go away (biased, inconsistent, time consuming). When done right, references can bring value to everyone: employers, candidates, and references! 💯

It’s great DE Shaw did references before the hiring decisions and everyone read them, it means that the interviewers weren’t biased towards hearing the positive feedback to confirm their hire
