This doc details Hobby Lobby employee benefits. ONLY salaried employees have access to ANY paid sick leave. At HobLob stores, only the manager & ass't managers are salaried. Every other employee is hourly.

UPDATE: Hobby Lobby has been instructing store managers to use the pandemic as a selling technique, by focusing on coronavirus "related" items and setting up displays to entice bored customers out of social isolation and into the store.

In areas with mandatory closings, Hobby Lobby will drain an employee's accrued vacation time before giving "emergency pay", which will be limited to 75% of their avg. pay for the past 6 wks. Employees say they've been cutting hours aggressively recently, to keep that $$ low.

2. Some are taking issue with my characterizing it as a vision from God. I'm not sure how else you describe saying that God laid words on your heart specifically to let you know you'll be safe as you refuse to close during a pandemic, but ok.

1/ For those saying that Hobby Lobby is only doing what they must to keep the company afloat financially, I did the math! According to Forbes, HL has 37,500 employees. HL is privately owned (meaning it isn't traded publicly/doesn't have to disclose to shareholders).

2/ Because Hobby Lobby is privately owned, I had to make some estimations/assumptions while doing the math. They are: -That 2/3 of the 37,500 employees are FT and 1/3 are PT (20hrs/wk) -That all are paid a living wage of $15 (which I know isn't true, but let's assume it averages)

3/ Using those estimates, Hobby Lobby could give all 37,500 employees 4 weeks off *fully paid* for roughly $75 million. That sounds like a lot of money until you consider the fact that HL's annual revenue is $5 BILLION and David Green's personal net worth is $6.4 BILLION.

4/ David Green could give ALL of Hobby Lobby's employees 4 weeks paid leave to take care of their families and stay safe and it would only represent 1% of his personal net worth. He would go from having $6.4 billion to having $6.3 billion. And less people would die.

NEW: Hobby Lobby is cutting pay by 10% for more than 3,000 warehouse & HQ employees, saying cuts are to compensate for lost profits at stores forced to temporarily close in areas hit by coronavirus pandemic. Staff are being told not to talk to media.

As company leadership attempts to enforce a gag order on employees—telling staff not to talk publicly about David Green's letter to stores last week—some of Green's grandchildren (who are also part of Hobby Lobby's corporate team) are claiming it's fake (it isn't).

Multiple sources inside the company tell me that Hobby Lobby warehouse employees were told work hours would not change, despite pay cuts. Warehouse employees say they frequently work 45 to 60 hours per week, and have been told that will continue.

BREAKING: Hobby Lobby just laid off hundreds of part time employees rather than pay them any amount of emergency pay. Thousands of warehouse workers still have no idea if they still have a job, and say they were told they may find out from a "note posted on the door".
