Muting everyone whose response to that article on games and violence is 'hey dude what ya smoking in that bong' or 'yeah and why don't more games have sparkling rainbow parades?' The latter one was made up but now I'm thinking ACTUALLY WHY DON'T THEY?

I think I've now watched the Star is Born and Captain Marvel trailers about 100 times each. Every time I need a break from work, I'm like, 'hmmm okay, just one more look at Lady Gaga singing those opening chords...'

Yeah but the feature wasn't about naming the small number of past games that worked in this way, it was asking if this could become habitual.

yeah, the other example - weirdly - is Hitman, where the input vocabulary is VAST, where your exploration of the world is hugely incentivised, and where violence is measured and largely avoidable.

Today in the Guardian, I make the catastrophic mistake of asking: can there be a big budget narrative game without continual violence? Polite notice: I LOVE VIOLENT GAMES. I AM NOT ASKING FOR THEM TO BE BANNED.

In the first draft, I don't want to give up hope of it being good, but I must. In every subsequent draft, I desperately want to give up hope of it being good, but I mustn't.
