Good - this takes us into more nuanced territory and moves us on from the binary knowledge v skills debate.

Has anyone out there done any work sharing EEF toolkit research evidence with parents? Setting/streaming shows negative impact and yet maybe often done because of parental pressure?

If you are an enthusiastic NQT (or any teacher for that matter) please don't let comments like 'it will soon wear off' etc dampen your enthusiasm or change the way you act. Find positive people to surround yourself with and embrace this amazing job!

Also worth demonstrating you’re a self directed learner - and that there are still things you want to work on. The ability to reflect is key.

Yes - and it led to some dreadful guidance on how to do lesson observations which may still be influential in some places. Cringe.

I agree! That clock on all the training materials terrified the life out of me. (But I still maintain, the ped pack had better stuff in it and is worth revisiting alongside the EEF toolkit.)

Literacy Hour never my favourite but the ped pack stuff on questioning and structuring learning was very sound imho

Think there would be some interesting work around putting the pack side by side next to the the EEF toolkit to check against evidence base.

Absolutely! Selected bits were really good for training sessions - especially NQTs. The pedagogy was sound.

Tbf the pack was designed to be used in modules that could be dipped into. Just saying.
