Yeah I know. She did seem legitimately pretty pissed at the person forcing the bag checks though. Like, I think she was more pissed than I was.

The flight crew did let me get my meds from the bag. That didn't get it on the plane though.

No, it is regulation size. I have taken it on 4 other planes in the last 3 weeks, one of them being my first leg with United this morning. On this flight they were forcing everybody to check all carry ons without caring what the crew said. I promise I know how to glare too.

The bag isn't the end of the world, but now that we're waiting at the gate "to sort out some data" I somewhat wonder how bad at communication and error recovery United is, and what the safety implications of that are.

I asked if I could get the bag from 4' away and put it in an empty overhead. The flight crew member was as unhappy as I was: nobody had asked the crew if the bins were full. She couldn't help though, any noncompliance would get her in trouble with a "security issue."

Wow do I ever hate flying . If you're going to force me to carousel check my carry on, at least shut the incredibly empty overhead bins beforehand. At least overbooking and then dragging a passenger off the plane made financial sense.

So, this is awkward, but it looks like Freedom House, one of the nonprofits which will advise Twitter on what advertising is a government-funded front... is itself a government-funded front.

Ideally not. I don't think the state of bathroom options at festivals etc is a gender issue so much as a people-being-ruined issue, and ladies don't even have the benefit of years of practice.

Passwords are: 1) Secrets; 2) Which can be rotated. Biometrics are usernames, not passwords. (Have fun rotating your fingerprints everybody!)

If you are in California and wonder why your broadband access choices are so limited, you should tell your legislature it’s time for a change.

I think society's expectations just shift. When I was young, everybody and their aunt felt empowered to "help" me "grow up" / stop being weird. Now, so long as I'm moderately competent, people try to help with strategy but not personality.

People tend to flip and shut down when you outright say "sexual harassment" or worse. So we wind up talking about "drama" and "being unprofessional" and "being offensive" while... generally not really actually talking about those things at all. It is pretty shitty for everybody.

If the return policy on kids didn't end long before teenage, I never would have made it.

On the way out of the airport, I saw some very unhappy people with a surfboard on their roof rack. The center fin didn't quite fit under the parking garage height restriction bar, and everybody was having a bit of a time. I guess I sort of did miss California.

I think it is equally likely that politicians subsidize gas more aggressively for easy popularity.

I tried to take my baby sister to this when she turned 18 and was a little sad she wanted no part in it. "Why would I want to go to a costumed weirdo party / old movie sing-along?"

Yeah I totally agree there is a special case with BIOS/crashed system stuff. I have some wonderful photos of screens where the computer was hilariously borked.
