I hated that old bust of his grandfather, but he said he owed the guy everything. One day, tired of its stare, I snuck it out of the house. As I stepped beyond the wrought iron gate, I heard a crack. I turned in time to watch the house crumble to dust and ruins.

Do you remember the halcyon days? Gone, now. Ever replaying in sepia. If I could walk on a silk strand beneath the twinkling sky I could pluck the moon like a pearl from its clasp. Maybe that gift would convince you of my love. Or maybe my nights would only be darker.

It was as if time was stuck on a loop. Helena kept waking in her room. Sometimes it was a bright, airy haven, and sometimes it was a dusty mess with a burned out lightbulb dangling overhead. She wished the author would move on to a different part of the draft.

I used to believe that moose could not be killed. They are invincible and immortal. I've still never seen a dead moose, so maybe I was right all along?

I do enjoy caramel! Also, the attempt was good. I'd love a pound of chocolate if only I could. 😂

The past is a weight. Too many pounds and not enough help carrying it. I spoke to the river on the other side of the field and it only babbled slow, churning platitudes. "But you can't leave it here," it finally answered. "I have too many memories already."

The sunset paints canvas clouds with wistful strokes of glowing gold The gentle breeze dances through trees and rushes close to dry my tears I whisper low of black depths that anchor tie my soul to dark The wind pulls strings that frayed and whisks away the broken bits

Another spill on the sticky cosmic floor on aisle six. I grab the mop and bucket, as if the act of cleaning could fix the issue. "Sorry for the mess. I'm all crankshafts and collisions over here." I nodded and tried to clean up the shattered, melting globe. Too late.

You're a good ass writer. You don't get to this point in life, where you're following something called Taco Bell Quarterly, if you weren't. Believe that. You're humble, you're talented, and you're a little unhinged. That's a terrifying combo. Now go scare the world.

When we were young we’d trip the light fantastic, a crush of stars the stage beneath our feet. We’d crank the sound so galaxies of music thundered through our universe. And now we waltz, a glide down Milky Way memories, to the steady rhythm of a moonbeam’s glow.
