this is scary & dangerous. the reductive nature of these faming. the erasure of the utility of these themes for TGNC folks. the public predication that these are trite or uninteresting… but this is the person (along with a cis straight white dude) is curating the issue?

these themes are in so much of poetry I’m baffled that THE EDITOR of a TGNC ISSUE finds THESE themes as so trite. no insight to their usage, their nuance, nothing. just a blanket statement. but again it wouldn’t be so bad if there was an editorial TEAM.

more than two people but surely more than ONE trans person should be trusted to curate this issue.

& it sucks cause so many TGNC writers are feeling rejected (& that’s a part of publishing..) but it’s that their approach to the themes & motifs rampant through contemporary poetry & is specifically urgent for us is openly shamed by the gatekeeper.

this the same person who put their pink self of the cover of a QPOC anthology but I don’t need to make this about individuals.

I don’t need to question the artistic integrity / rigor of anyone who gets in but the editoral process at this point is so transparently self serving & culturally stratifying

BUT IF WE ARE BEING HONEST: so many TGNC writers (mostly white, in my experience) are more concerned with the political clout of being in favor with establishment than troubling the lines that dictate who & who isn’t worthy.

so we are to believe in the infinite wisdom not only did PoMag think ONE editor was appropriate but THE CHOSEN EDITOR thought it was appropriate, though that practice is fairly unmatched especially with a project of this magnitude.

it’s irresponsible on the part of basically everyone but the contributors who literally just want to document their identities in this highly visible place & should be able to eat off their art without being tokenized
