Very very sad to see the iPhone SE die. Some of us want just a phone, and not some sort of cut down tablet! Sigh.

I felt that way when the 6 / 6 Plus came out, but then we got the SE. I, for one, am not giving up hope

Or, for that matter, my SE, which is still a fab little device

I agree with that - I stayed on my 4S for ages waiting for the SE to come out. But I fear Apple learnt their lesson with the SE - it is too hard to make the UI work that small. Even Apple apps have cases where the UI barely works.

The trick would be to go edge to edge

Whatever they do, I'd rather have the nice solid feel and good battery life and small size that whatever hardware features they have smushed into the new phones this year.

Incorrect, the best part of the SE was the fact that it had flagship level internals

Was it ever really flagship internals? Certainly not for long since its never been updated.

When it launched it was, and that was the best part. Shit, it still has a top-of-the-line 12 megapixel camera

Fair enough - that was really never why I bought it. I bought it primarily for size. That it was the cheapest was a bonus. Note by size I mean x-y size, I couldn't care less about the thickness, I'd be happy with it being 50-100% thicker.

It was released between the 6s and the 7, and has largely 6s internals

What phone would you recon Nikola should her 6 with? It's getting a bit dodgy (especially the silence switch).

E is going to buy a Xr to replace her 6 Plus. Seems like a perfect match for her, as she uses her phone a /lot/. But it’s hard to make a specific reco because everyone is different

Sure. Nik uses her phone a lot, but not for a lot of much if that makes sense (like just the bare minimum stuff a lot - no Mail or Pages or stuff like that). So its between a 7 & 8 & XR probably. I dunno what the big differences are.

I tend to buy a new model rather than a previous year’s model because it’ll last longer for OS updates
