COP23's over and folk are still talking about a ~3C world like it's delayed flights, expensive kale and a couple less butterflies. What +3C means is civil war (post COP21, 2015)
Failure to cap carbon emissions will not only bring on climate shocks, but also worldwide instability, insurrection, and warfare.

People really don’t get it, do they? It’s as if westerners don’t think they can ever get affected by anything other than small things.

Well said. The cognitive dissonance of privilege. What a cruel luxury it is too, given we're the primary per-capita threat to Earth's climate

The same dissonance that makes most people think that back in the old days they would have been the wealthy ones and not the poor 98% of the population.

It will also mean mass extinction. We need to preserve as much biodiversity as possible. We'll need it once Yellowstone blows up and casts us into volcanic winter, some 60 to 300 years from now.

Talk about prescient:Such wars would not arise in a vacuum. Already existing stresses and grievances would be heightened, enflamed undoubtedly by provocative acts and the exhortations of demagogic leaders. Think of the current outbreak of violence in Israel and the Palestinian...

Worldwide instability, insurrection, and warfare were going to happen anyway. As long as their are people who want something.

Timeshare non-coastal land with black soil toward the poles - a lab for off-grid study. Drop 2 shipping containers, 1 for a vertical garden, 1 to live in. Study renewable energy, radio, archery, medical basics, local foraging (esp fungi). Start slow, 1m/yr. Make friends w locals?

Please share! I start learning radio and my wife ( ) is finishing herbal school. Documentation on off the grid lab would be precious! I always want to do archery. Any newsletter to sign with workshops/field-trips/gathering you are organizing?

Superb ref, thanks! Buying this book. I'm a near-total ignorant here, a huge hole in my understanding. 30% of all pharma comes from plants, so it only makes sense to study this stuff rn cc
