If a person needs to advertise how important they are, then it’s very likely they believe just the opposite.

So many in business don’t understand business. Of course, 100% of those reading below will think they’re in the 10%.

Everyone loves a crowd. Even when they say they don’t. https://t.co/DP71BUwVc0

Comment from a good friend (and something every parent will recognize instantly): “My daughter is a lovely person, but not a great taker of advice.”

If you can’t explain something simply & clearly, chances are you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Freedom - to work harder or work less. - to choose amongst myriad options. - to choose your lovers & friends. - to speak your mind & defend your ideas. - to be your authentic self. - to spend your most precious asset - time - as you wish. Freedom is the ultimate wealth.

When you listen to a Sam Zell interview, you immediately understand how his family’s escape from Poland just prior to the 1939 Nazi invasion deeply informs his life. He is different in that Sam never wavers from doing what’s right vs. what’s popular. This trait is a skill.

I’ll jump on the “fanboy” bandwagon. I look forward to Nick’s posts like they’re killer streaming content coming from Netflix or Amazon Prime video.

This clip from CNN is hilarious. But it’s also condescending & self-important. The daily news cycle - from Fox, CNN, MSNBC, abc, nbc, cbs - is just infotainment that’s produced to incite, indoctrinate, and alleviate boredom. Just another reason to stop watching.

“Hard” things that give life meaning: - loving and raising children - building/creating in an environment of uncertainty - lending an authentic hand to something you believe in - understanding that love is a verb, not an emotion If these weren’t hard, everyone would do them.

A friend just texted, about Kobe: “I wish I had known what a good guy he was before yesterday.” Something about death makes us wise—we suddenly become high-minded, forgiving and focused on the best in people. How can we do better at seeing living people through the “eulogy lens”?

“I had a friend who was really smart in the media world & very wealthy. He thought that success & recognition were essential. I don’t feel that way. To me, success is having a mind that’s not at war with itself & a sense of well-being not based on having all the conditions right”
