Upon further research, it turns out Paccard was commissioned in the 1850s to cast replicas of the original Liberty Bell. When I lived in Annecy the locals all bragged that Paccard had made the original.

Man behind me trying to wake up his smart phone by repeating “okay, Google” in increasingly frustrated tones. To no avail. Reminds me of the last N times I tried to get my teens to pay attention. Have smart phones only evolved to teen-level responsiveness? Can’t we do better?
