Toon boom can do some insane 2d rigs along with hand drawn stuff. AE's biggest positive is that everyone is already using it throughout the advertising industry. Animate is great for rough animation, but personally I wouldn't use it for anything else.

I usually don't have to add points, but if I do, it doesn't mess anything up. It still animates the same. Removing points on the other hand screws it all up. It's better to just remake the shape at that point.

I think this is definitely faster. It lets you skip the entire cleanup phase of traditional animation because you're always working with the finished look. It's all much much more tweak-able.

hey no problem. I spent about 8 hours in AE, spread over a few days. I didn't keep track of the time I spent designing and illustrating but it took a bit.
