One of my fondest memories of HANNIBAL Season 2 is Mason Verger being so outrageously wretched that even the normally unflappable Hannibal is like “oh geez this fucking guy” in their therapy session.

It’s interesting, I saw a discussion on my feed a couple of weeks back about how comedy is so dull and toothless now because of “political correctness gone mad.” Boyle is one of the most brutal, close-to-the-bone comics there is, and he expresses sheer contempt for that argument.

Watching Frankie Boyle’s 2019 standup show on BBC iPlayer, and it’s great, hilarious stuff. Perhaps the highlight is his total ethering of Ricky Gervais over his lazy punching down of trans women, segueing into a whole discussion on the nature of comedy and how it works.

Following that LRT I actually did read up on what Joel Coen has been saying about THE TRAGEDY OF MACBETH, and there's some really interesting stuff here about his approach to the material. And he, like me, ranks THRONE OF BLOOD as his fave adaptation!

This week's free Patreon update is a little piece of writing I particularly enjoyed doing, talking about the enduring, frightening power of CANDYMAN.

My grandson who is going to be a high school senior sent me this cartoon last week. I think the kids are as worried as the teachers.

This Swamp Thing cover recreation I did for the Heroes auction a few years ago came up in my FB memories this morning (well the post about the person who won it selling it online for a fraction of what he paid..) I'm still kinda happy with it. So here it is again!

Last week we learned that there is nothing CGers find more appalling and shameful than creators discriminating against Asian people. They even made a hashtag about it. So today I’m sure they will be absolutely furious over another creator talking about “Chinese COVID...”
