Thinking of Roger Ebert's line: "There were guns in Out of the Past, but the real hostility came when Robert Mitchum and Kirk Douglas smoked at each other."

On the plus side, I've never actually seen a sign for motorists in Birmingham that was even partially in actual the road before, rather than just blocking the sidewalk. Is this....progress?

With "we can't expect busy drivers to worry about hitting kids IN CROSSWALKS with their cars" being their attitude, to me they're in the way of needed change. But optimism is good! And nice to see that your work in Halifax is changing some minds, especially on road design.

Even though the police officer interviewed is intent on excusing drivers for endangering vulnerable road users and minimizing the seriousness of , it's nice to see an all too rare road safety story that includes pedestrian perspectives!

Moved here from Canada, where car culture is also bad, but cars parked on sidewalks are towed. Seen many cars left on sidewalks here, never one towed. Not as bad, though, as the constant speeding, idling, and motorists hitting pedestrians without real consequences.

Looks so interesting. Also, even if I had sensed that "intersects" with other systems of power, Collisions taught me so much about the complexities of those relationalities. So thanks for the article citation, and for writing the book!

Never visited Batumi, but that van driver sure seems familiar from cities I have been to in Canada, the US, and the UK.

Thank you, . What a powerful reminder for those of us in the UK, where the poisonous politics of Tory victory and have left many feeling discouraged, that just as gendered racial capitalism is international in scale, so the struggle against it must also be.

I'm a fan of books like Cotten Seiler's Republic of Drivers and 's Collisions at the Crossroads, but this looks really helpful for further transnational and more recent dimensions. Thanks!
