Well done Rachael and Newbury Velo. However, the irony is not lost on me of the hoops to Jump through to make TTs “COVID safe”. But CTT rejected the change to make helmets compulsory.

It was well publicised that the 3 men were gay. I would hope that a homophobic motive was a serious line of enquiry. The investigators will need to show his intent. Ps we have Reading link if you read my bio

Due to bed blocking and the lack of funding in social care the old folks shouldn’t have been in hospital in the first place

I believe the intention is good but a knee jerk in fear of institutional racism. Better to RA all staff acknowledging all risk factors of which one is ethnicity (albeit a major factor for people of certain ethnicity backgrounds

Fully agree. Small example: I’m a police officer and we have been asked to do a risk assessment for my “BAME”colleagues due to the Covid-19. No account has been taken of the wide variation of risk within the BaME population.

Some simple facts: on average 68 children in the UK are murdered by a parent or relative. No children died of Covid in Scotland (between wks 1-24). What do you suggest removing all children from their parents? They are clearly a greater risk than parents

These are Paediatricians. Many work on the front line treating children who have been physically and sexually abused. Their work (and mine) has increased. Normal safety nets (incl schools) are no longer there

In the 1st few weeks of lockdown our phones stopped ringing: no referrals from schools or social services. Do you think abuse of children suddenly stopped? Ask a child if they’re more scared of Covid or their abuser? Get rid of the 2 mtr rule and get children back to school.

As a detective in a busy child abuse investigation dept. My one observation is your point 1: It’s too late, children have become casualties of Covid-19.

Excellent article. Another statistic that highlights the risk children face. Last year over 60 children were murdered by a family member. I fear for children left at home with families in crisis or abusive parents

Children need school, not zoos, shopping and takeaways. My column on why all pupils must go back soon.

Beyond contempt... One of the thugs in London today to ‘save our country’ from people defacing memorials - caught urinating on the memorial for hero PC Keith Palmer who died as he tackled a terrorist & was awarded a posthumous George Medal. 👇

I Work in CAIU so involved at a very early stage of these tragic events. They test and challenge on a personal and professional level. On the one hand showing empathy/compassion to those grieving but remaining professional & open minded to ensure we investigate why the child died
