Another grossly misleading headline from the print edition of . No mention that the same report estimates 1.5m deaths would have occurred had lockdown not occurred, nor that the 16k deaths were due to health system stresses as opposed to the imposition of restrictions.

“Lockdown” was telling people to stay at home, and the economic and social impacts of it and ongoing restrictions on mortality is estimated by the report to be 29k in the long term. Regrettable, but minimal in comparison with 1.5m lives that could have been lost.
