This didn’t work for me at all – “New York taught me apathy and how to be smug about bagels, but now that I have looked at house prices elsewhere it's time to move literally anywhere else and farm goats.”

It’s definitely a UK-ism but I’ve heard it here as well. The US equivalent would be something like “does what it says on the label”. Using “tin” feels more fun & colloquial.

Jealous of the one-handed crack. I solved my bits-of-shell-in-the-bowl problem a couple of years ago by switching to cracking on a flat surface and not on an edge (which I found tends to drive detached shell pieces into the liquid).

This is sobering: a time lapse map of every Covid-19 death in the world from Jan-Jun. Each death is denoted by a musical tone and a blip on the map; it doesn't take long for the tones & blips to build into a cacophony of death.

Yes! I’m rewatching TNG from the beginning and I didn’t realize until reading yr tweet that in the first 6-8 episodes, the plots often do revolve around a lack of comm. and it’s maybe why those episodes aren’t so great…

A new gigapixel scan of a copy of Leonardo da Vinci's The Last Supper painted by his students is "the most accurate record of the original". It contains elements that have since disappeared in the original mural.

A clip from a 1947 French film that predicts not only smartphones but, with uncanny accuracy, the behavior of people using them, e.g. oblivious people on screens bumping into others on the sidewalk.
