This should remind everyone how meaningless these “awards” are. (BTW Nancy Pelosi was a co-awardee).

BankID system showed me apparently has an additional keypair in the SIM card, one that isn’t duplicated if someone gets a new SIM for that phone number. So that should establish control of a unique device => would be acceptable out-of-band authenticator.

Many emails these days require the recipient to retrieve "images" to see content. That of course reveals the IP address of the user's endpoint. I'm afraid that horse has already left the barn.

I wonder if these are actually commonplace. Seems like a lot of analytics tools do this, and I’m seeing them everywhere. Not saying they’re legal or ethical, just common.

Would Google Analytics also be a violation? I can point to any number of Gov websites with that.

But I hear the keys will no longer be accepted in the near future. So upgrading isn’t really optional, right?

I really hope so. Some of the previous “signature” technologies were so insecure as to be laughable, yet they were accepted as valid for significant transactions like real estate.

To be fair, they didn’t specify if they meant Hindu-Arabic numerals or Eastern Arabic numerals.
