...This is one of the great battles in the Christian life: to approach the Bible without presuppositions, letting it shape us instead of vice versa. 2/2

Instead of coming to the Scriptures like a child, saying, “God, teach me,” we often go looking for ammunition to back up what we’ve already embraced… 1/2

God is not telling Congress or any political party or public official to humble themselves and pray. He's calling his people to pray & intercede. Let's do that today as we cry out to God for revival in our church in America & throughout the world. 2/2

God tells us in his Word, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." 1/2

7-yr-old Matthew Elliott, from our BT Kids classes, recited the Beatitudes last Sunday. I once had the privilege of praying for Matthew when his parents dedicated him to the Lord. Thank God for godly parents and for the tireless labor of love of teachers everywhere.

Our future security has nothing to do with the pension plan we were smart enough to negotiate or the money we have accumulated in our bank account or the graduate degree we just earned. Our trust has to be in the Lord; he alone is our security.

If you are in the NYC area, we hope you will join us for our Thursday Night Bible Study this week, when we will discuss lessons from the life of David, and bring that to Christ and the day in which we live. These are spiritual lessons for all of us.
