4/Another snapshot from the report on Ontario’s experience with statistical funding for special needs. (p. 44) Note how the major “advantage” of it is zero accountability for the Ministry. No way to tell if funding is adequate. (Therefore-easy to cut.) . .

6/ See charts of Ontario’s funding compared to BC! Same pattern of underfunding for 18 years straight! Why are BC kids shortchanged every year? And now a new funding model that makes cuts easier will replace the old model? All citizens should be worried. . .

7/END While . has put $ to barely cover the court-mandated costs that unconstitutionally stripped in 2002, and $ to cover some seismic upgrades, funding remains much less % of GDP than it used to. Priorities? BC citizens-your future at stake.

Praying this is funding model finds it’s way to the scrap heap. As a parent I can tell you that underfunding is a serious problem and it only gets worse as the kids age. More pressure on kids and parents to pick up the slack. Time to fund these kids properly.
