Republicans & Democrats showed they can work together on when they passed , which changed the national conversation on mass incarceration and reflects Americans’ hunger for a fairer and more effective system. We need to continue that momentum.

The community supervision populations dwarf that of the prison system, and together they constitute the largest segment of the carceral state. According to U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics, about 4.5 mil adults— or 2% of the adult population — are on supervision.

Too often, in prison, it's easy to set far-off goals: Someday I'll break that habit. Someday I'll develop life skills. Someday I'll start living up to my potential. In the Prison Fellowship Academy, "someday" begins today.

I think you should look to Governor Wolf and Governor Murphy for two Governors you’re more comfortable with politically who are doing amazing CJR work. Gov. Murphy, in particular, has really set the bar high for states with Earn Your Way Out.

I agree that more clemency should be granted. Trouble is, you don’t often see first term clemencies. Most Presidents and Governors wait until they are leaving office. President Trump has done this publicly in his first term, which probably elevates the clemency conversation.
