Deafening silence from Conservative MPs on the debacle today, especially those representing areas they won by offering a ‘levelling up’ agenda. Students who’ve been hard hit by the levelling down of their hard work and ambition deserve a strong national voice.

The Government’s approach to the awful scenes in the English Channel lacks compassion and competence. We must not militarise a humanitarian crisis. I’ve written to the Home Secretary demanding answers:

Today I would normally say good luck to all those getting results tomorrow, however while the sentiment is still true I have no idea what these students will wake up to tomorrow. It all seems a needless mess, good job it's nothing important like an individuals future...

Huge thanks to for briefing us today at Tyseley. Crews were on the scene in minutes to form a human fire-wall between the blaze & neighbouring businesses. Saved millions of pounds and hundreds of jobs. Dedicated. Professional. Fearless. !

Today and I went to thank the crews for their brilliant efforts to contain the huge blaze in Tyseley. They saved lives and livelihoods, they coped and communicated with excellence and deserve investment and respect.

A week ago I met with fire crews who were working with children's services to ensure visits and food delivery to vulnerable families in Yardley and this week they are keeping us all safe after huge efforts to stop the massive Tyseley Fire. Thank you.
