Sometimes it feels like is trying to push users away. For the first time in nearly 8 years I've decided not to pay for their premium services, and now most of my videos (including my own wedding video) is hidden behind a paywall.

They're slowly fading away. I'd be very interested in seeing a new contender in the video hosting space.

Same here. Sadly doesn’t make sense to upload to them anymore.

I just didn't realize they would hide hundreds of my videos. I thought I would just lose access to the premium features.

Horrible, horrible experience. Wish I never uploaded anything on there. They just force you to retain your pro or plus subscription or you lose the content. Infuriating.

Been there. Had to pay to download my files again then I cancelled and said farewell. Scammers.

Speaking as someone who has built systems like this in the past, it’s hard. So hard that even the idea of doing it paralyzes the bravest of us. YouTube was days from broke when Google bought them. You won’t see another serious contender unless it comes from an established player.

Thats my plan now as well. Pay, remove everything, never return.

Oh I don't pretend like I could run a better video hosting platform. But to hide my videos and make me pay to get them back means they get a paycheck from me today, but never again. Its short term gain solidifying their longterm doom.

Oh, I wasn’t responding to that. Someone was lamenting the need for a new player to rise. I was just saying to them, don’t count on it. I think you are 💯 on with your assessment.

Same happened to me. It’s useless if you aren’t paying them. Just use google.

Haha same thing happened to me. I messaged them and was like you have to be joking right? Your literally pushing people to go watch those same videos on YouTube now... they put them back up after that 😂

We can send in a search mission to break them out. I’ll be the guy that signals to the others like a third base coach.

Never liked Vimeo, considered it couple of times, but just could not commit. Post all of my videos through YouTube, clients never complained and don't seem to mind. For review, just make them unlisted and send link not a single client said they prefer Vimeo over YouTube
