this year we’re cancelling creepy boys and dating spooky boys instead—boys who hold your hand in the haunted forest, who own a pet raven and a diadem with mysterious powers, who have been ghosting you ever since they died in The War.

If you are a transgender person who is now, or has been, a member of the armed forces, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you have sacrificed. This darkness will give, some day, I promise. In the meantime, you are revered, and loved.

Same! It’s not easy to give yourself permission to live in the moment, without thought to success or approval or anything else but THIS, right now. But I think it’s probably the best way to make art—or anything.

My husband was reading this Conan O'Brien interview, and I can't stop thinking about this: he found creative freedom when he realized that no matter how much success you have in this moment, one day we'll all be forgotten—so why not do what gives you joy?

Ha! Actually, I'm warming up to him now. He usually greets me in the kitchen now with coffee/stuff he's found in the mines and a kiss. We're working on our communication problems, LOL.

Today I felt so weighed down, mentally and physically. I reread ’s Night Owls. It was joyous. Considering how shockingly bad I felt, that’s basically a little miracle. I love reading. 🎆
