I'm sharing for: 👥 Accountability. Help me by respecting my boundaries and how I show up. 💡 An invitation. To join me in staying the course, and/or to share what's worked for you in doing so. ❗️A reminder. Be kind to yourself and willing to evolve how you do you. /fin

This is -in and of itself- a shift for me. As someone who has been constantly on the go, looking ahead, and problem solving everything with rapidity and forceful determination, this is new. But one thing I've learned in the past year is that that slowing down is ok, even good. /4

And so my theme for the remaining 10 months of this year is to STAY THE COURSE. No big shifts or push in any direction. I will tread the water contently and without feeling like I need to be swimming a timed race in any given direction. /3

We're still in a pandemic and have so many other layers of stress and curveballs that make treading water in itself a success. Throughout our emails and this chat today, a frequent reminder is to keep a manageable pace and to give ourselves grace. /2

Just had a great call with my accountability buddy . Sam and I have been doing this accountability partnership for more than a decade. Each year, I enjoy setting goals and identifying things to pay attention to throughout. This year, that has felt hard. /1

Creating a space for dialogue between OPDs and humanitarian actors is critical, and that space wasn’t there before. Talking about equity and linking it with conversations on gender equality is also critical. -Kristin Lange

Really appreciate the Inclusive Education infographic developed by a working group of under leadership by . Young people with disabilities are too often unable to access education; the pandemic made it worse. This resource can help.

“We are advocating for accessibility of COVID-19 information in briefings by UN agencies and to prioritize persons with disabilities and those supporting them as vaccines are rolled out.” (Ableism is why this advocacy is necessary.)

We are not seeing a reaction to the pandemic that adequately supports persons with disabilities...and then in addition there’s a shadow pandemic of domestic violence affecting women and children with disabilities.

“‘Nothing about us without us’ should be what happens, not an aspirational slogan.” Persons with disabilities need to be at tables designing solutions and making decisions always.

Very excited to join my first AGM the next two days. I’m proud to work for an organization that supports building a strong global disability rights movement led by OPDs and identities at the movement’s margins.

Just finished diving into this beautiful, powerful report. Centering the margins in research, assessment, and evaluation looks like this. Gratitude for your work, and for the opportunity to learn from your example.
