The best part about Ghislaine Maxwell obviously staging those photos at In-N-Out is how before her lawyer's media firm sold them to the NY Post, they photoshopped in an ad for Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's new movie.

Twitter tells me new ad rules do not apply to tax*-funded media organisations that have independent oversight. So: BBC, RTE, PBS, NPR and similar all good, if they want. (*or license fee...)

I mean, the cynicism of this argument, now made by Dr. Biden, is just mind-numbing. Especially when you consider that the ENTIRETY of the Biden "electability" argument is based on his status as a white male.

Also, Apple is so big that $6bn over 1-3 years still counts as an experiment

If Apple has ‘committed’ $6bn to TV, that won’t all be in one year, so for comparison purposes it’s a lower number. Meanwhile Netflix will apparently spend $15bn this year and has over $20bn of content on the balance sheet. Not quite play money but not a full-on attack on Netflix

4/ g. We would have been wise to gather "data" (scare word) from our audiences so we could serve them as individuals instead of as a mass but we could not break our old habits. Our fault. h. Loss of newspaper jobs is not their fault. It is our fault. Full stop.

3/ f. The platforms made the mistake of sucking up to us, providing placements for what we've always produced--articles. They should have taught us to produce news natively for their platforms & publics. But that would have pissed us off.

2/ c. The "Journalism Competition and Preservation Act" is pure conflict of interest w/government, whom we should cover. d. We are no longer destinations. Get used to it. e. The public we serve is on the platforms. We must take our journalism there.

1/Well, I disagreed with a few things in that column. a. The NMA "study" was an abomination against fact and journalism. b. Journalism's revenue wasn't God-given & wasn't "hijacked." Google et al gave our customers a better deal. Competition. Capitalism
