John Roberts is still the twentysomething who feels aggrieved at the idea that *he* bears any responsibility for dealing with the legacy of racism.

Shelby County is the more infamous case, but Parents v. Seattle is actually the better example of how Roberts becomes unhinged at the suggestion that racism exists and there’s a public responsibility to reduce its impact.

John Roberts seems to sincerely believes that the recognition of racism is as bad, harmful, and offensive as racism itself.

The discussion about impeachment seems to treat it as if the ONLY basis for impeaching Trump is the Mueller Report substantiating abuse of office. That's not true: Trump seems especially nervous about his treatment of clearances for his Crown Prince. There's emoluments.

Even if I agree with the premise (I don’t, I see a healthy critical conversation about these movies), I’d say the quality ranges from bad to pretty good, even occasionally great.

This is a fantastic piece that is worth reading for everyone. To conservatives and liberals alike: if you see something on Twitter that seems to play exactly into your ideological priors about another group of people, MAYBE IT’S A HOAX.

The new conservative jurisprudence: there are two worlds, the real world and the world inside the courtroom. In the courtroom, justices will treat as true whatever facts the administration claims are true. It just needs to describe facts that fit the law.

trump openly mocking the idea that he can be held accountable makes “begin impeachment proceedings” look like a much better idea than “say he’s bad but avoid directly confronting him”

The 2020 census results will be used to reallocate congressional seats, draw legislative districts and distribute federal funds — and is trying to take those resources from communities of color by adding a citizenship question in an attempt to intimidate us.

Know Your IX 19h
A student was expelled from Washington University because of sexual assault. So his dad started a dark money lobbying group to upend Title IX. The changes would let his son appeal his case to a board of judges where his mom sits. Privilege is WILD.
