Nike Vaporfly improves running economy by 2.8% Changing running mechanics by: ⬆️ stride length ⬆️ vertical oscillation ⬇️ ankle plantarflex velocity at push off ⬆️ ankle joint moment arm However, doesn't improve running economy in everyone!

2/2: soccer players. Other intervention (without technique) shows the importance of analysing the athletes initial profile (overspeed Vs heavy).

Okay! 1/2:Methods will be interesting to compare. We have recently done 2 interventions, one quantified basic 2D technique and shows no shifts in intial accel technique from different heavy loads (still need to look at Vmax tech), while performance improvements were high for pro

Pmax is misunderstood here - Substantial acute 'increases' are unlikely, but for training you can extend the time spent in this (or *ANY*) condition by using load that stimulates the same ouput @ Vmax. The concept is not new (e.g. VBT) & is discussed in various pubs & posts 3/3

Very light resistance is common due (partly) to your own published 'optimal' recommendations 10yrs ago. I would argue that that is the dogma, not that heavier loads might have a place. The 'specificity' argument is logical, but loses impact when squats are common & accepted 2/3

Nobody says that sprinting with high resistance is the only way to improve, nor is it unlinked from perf - It's all about athlete needs. A front row rugby player is not a 200m sprinter. Their acc needs are different, & their profile might not match what is best for sprinting 1/3

Our article in which we explore force-velocity COM profiles during sprinting in soccer players is now available. What I especially liked when desigining this study with is the inclusion of lots of female players too, interesting data!

Sprinting is a skill: And as a skill, sprinting should be practiced with a certain density per week, per month, per months of year. Here is another awesome video of quarter miler flying round the bend during a 120m rep!

I had a closer look to some issues of these high IF journals. 15 articles which are editorial materials, 3 original papers and 3 reviews. Basically no negative studies 🤔 For those knowing how IF is calculated the strategy is clear. And it works.
